Map of ski and snowboard common names in non-motorized area of Turnagain Pass Alaska. Names are mostly taken from the CNFAIC book and surrounding topographic areas. Turnagain Pass is located along the Seward Highway between Anchorage and Seward, south of Girdwood by 45 minutes. With much appreciation to the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center for keeping this area safe and all of us informed!
Personal project for the love of maps, skiing, and this amazing area. The original was acrylic painted on a 36 by 72 inch canvas. After it was scanned, I illustrated the place names, compass, and scale digitally.
Archival prints are gouache done locally on 180 lb rag paper by Raven Ink.
